Collections Information

Observations, research, and collections made during the Barbados-Antigua Expedition represent many different taxa including but not limited to vertebrates, crustacea, echinoderms, and mollusca. The University of Iowa Paleontology Repository houses part of the Barbados-Antigua collections of mollusks, echinoderms, foraminifera, and corals.

The Committee on Care of Collections, headed by Dayton Stoner was responsible for containers, preservatives, labels, and instruments for collecting. The Committee on Laboratory, headed by Dr. Job had the task of arranging a temporary lab for the observation, dissection, and research of both marine and terrestrial species.

Collection and observation of samples was done by a majority of the Barbados-Antigua Expedition team. Specimens were obtained using various methods including dredging, diving, and hand collection.
